“Sandbox for agents” describes isolation, not the surface your agent will control. A Linux process, a browser tab, and an installed Android app solve different problems.
This comparison reviews primary documentation on October 29, 2026. It compares the documented execution surface rather than speed, security certification, or feature parity. Offerings and plans can change.
Choose by the work
| Environment | Documented surface | Representative outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Mobilebox | Android 14 arm64 app and system UI | Install an APK and verify its saved state |
| E2B | Linux sandboxes and desktop computer use | Run code or operate a Linux desktop |
| Browserbase | Cloud browser automation | Complete a workflow in a website |
E2B’s documentation describes isolated Linux sandboxes with code execution, templates, persistence, and desktop computer use. That is a useful contract for an agent that needs a shell, analysis environment, or Linux application.
Browserbase’s introduction describes a browser platform and browser automation integrations including Playwright, Puppeteer, and Selenium. That is a useful contract for web workflows. Consult current product documentation for the wider platform scope.
Mobilebox’s reference covers phone lifecycle, app installation, screen observation, bounded actions, screenshots, and device settings. It is not a general shell execution service. The public API does not expose arbitrary ADB commands, a Linux desktop, or a browser CDP endpoint.
State has different meanings
In Mobilebox, park shuts the phone down and preserves apps, app data, and logins. Resume starts processes again. E2B documents a different pause model, including filesystem and memory persistence. Do not transfer assumptions about one product’s pause semantics into another product’s lifecycle.
For browser automation, inspect the provider’s session and context contract. A reusable login, a live tab, a saved filesystem, and a running Android process are four different things.
Combine environments only when the task requires it
An agent might analyze a CSV in a code sandbox and then enter a result into a mobile-only app. Two runtimes are justified by those two surfaces. Starting every available sandbox before the task is understood only adds state and cleanup work.
Write down the artifact each environment must produce and how the next step receives it. Keep secrets out of shared prompts and logs. Verify each boundary, and close or park each environment when its work ends.
